Today was the best day of my life to this point, I am being
one hundred percent serious and it was even the first day of class. How it is possible for the day that
classes start up to be the finest day in my existence is a complete mystery to
me, especially given that my alarm this morning had a bit of a malfunction and
neglected to wake me up, causing me to get out of my top-bunk bed 10 minutes
before I had to leave for class.
To continue the chain of weirdness, which happened to be the
theme of the day, I actually enjoyed class. (FYI I am taking a British literature class, a Shakespeare
class, and a class on the geography of the British Isles). After school was done for the day we
went to the library and got our library cards. And I will be totally honest with you I felt a bit like a
first grader that was going to the school library for the first time as they
gave us this strange tour, of which I could not hear a word of.
But now is when the day gets good. We walked through Hyde Park on our way back (well on our way
there too, but that is not important to this particular story). And OH MY GOODNESS IT IS SOOOO PRETTY,
so pretty that it needed to be immortalized in my SD card:
That's Kensington Palace, which is conveniently where Kate and William live, like nbd or anything
Next I ridded myself of my tube virginity, yep I rode the
tube for the first time, and as a lover of nicely-executed public transit
systems, I was actually in love.
That vessel of transportation took me to the single most iconic pieces
of British architecture. Say hello
to the Elizabeth Tower (home to Big Ben, which is just the clock, not the
tower) and the London Eye:
It was so surreal to be in the presence of these things, and
I have no idea why that should be the case, like it’s just a clock and a ferris
wheel. However it was unreal. The Houses
of Parliament are literally on the river, not next to the river, on the river.
Oh and those red telephone booths, well they are real. I was highly pleased to learn that.
ttyl,
Keslie
